CM meets World Bank representative

SHILLONG, May 7: Meghalaya Chief Minister Dr Mukul M Sangma on Thursday had a meeting with Patrick Muller, World Bank, to discuss on projects on health and child welfare and to strategize the Meghalaya Integrated Health, Nutrition and Early Childhood Education Project. The Chief Minister stressed on the need to sensitize the mothers on nutrition of children and also stated, “The Health, Education, Social Welfare and other departments have to engage in convergence to realize this,” adding “these issues of malnutrition and anemia have ramifications on future generations that often lead to delinquency, rebelliousness besides physiological and psychological deficiencies.” He also said that there is a need to integrate the messages while providing the services and format them accordingly. Earlier, Muller of World Bank said that “World Bank has been supporting a number of state projects especially in the Health sector,” adding “a survey of 2012 showed problems of malnutrition in children”.
