CM Samagra Gramya Unyan Yoja' turns into farce in gaon

From a Correspondent

GAON (HAIBORGAON), Dec 19: Distributing tractors at 75 per cent subsidy under Chief Minister Samagra Gramya Unyan Yoja of the Agriculture Department has allegedly turned into a farce in entire gaon district and those farmers who applied for the tractors were compelled to remain without their expected tractors for another crop season.

According to some farmers of the district, this happened because of the negligence of the authorities of various banks of the district and the banks authorities unnecessarily harassed the farmers by asking papers and other documents one after another. Interestingly, the Agriculture Department of the State a couple of months ago declared the subsidy scheme of providing a tractor for each village of the State and hundreds of farmers groups of the district applied for the subsidy tractors.

The district agricultural officials hence sent all their applications to various banks as per the choices of the farmers accordingly. But no bank has sanctioned loans for even a single tractor in the district. Interestingly, under this particular subsidy scheme, the State Government will allocate 75 per cent of total price to a farmers’ group for a tractor and the farmers’ group will deposit 5 per cent of total price. The rest 20 per cent of total price will be sanctioned by the bank as loan. But the bank authorities of the district allegedly directed the selected farmers’ groups to deposit the complete amount of the price of a tractor for which the entire scheme turned into a mere farce. The State Government had earlier directed the Assam Co-operative Apex Bank to supply tractors to the farmers’ groups by sanctioning 20 per cent loan under the scheme. But it turned back and the entire scheme proved futile.
