CM Sarbananda Sonowal Stresses all-Round Development of Dima Hasao District

GUWAHATI: Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal held a meeting with a delegation of NC Hill Autonomous Council (NCHAC) members at his conference room at Janata Bhawan on Tuesday and discussed various issues concerning the development of Dima Hasao district.

NCHAC Chief Executive Member (CEM) Debolal Garlosa said that there were hindrances in spending Multi-Sectoral Development Plan (MsDP) funds in the district as only three blocks in the district qualified for receiving the MsDP funds. He requested the Chief Minister to look into the matter as MsDP was aimed at ensuring an equitable development of the minority communities in the district and amendment in the norms for the scheme would enable the Council to spend the funds for development of minority communities in all parts of the district.

The Chief Minister also enquired about the status of tourism projects being implemented in the district and directed for speedy construction of the proposed ‘water aerodrome’ at Umrangso. He also suggested the Council to allocate land for constructing a Hall of Friendship – which would house the ancestral deities worshipped by all 19 communities and tribes residing in Dima Hasao.

The visitors would be able get an idea about the history and rituals of all these communities and their practices of worship at the Hall, he opined. He also assured for allocating funds for the purpose and urged CEM Garlosa to identify suitable land.
