CM takes stock of flood situation in North Lakhimpur

Lakhimpur, July 28: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal visited North Lakhimpur on Thursday to review the flood scerio.

The Chief Minister asked the district administration to provide help to the flood-affected people in every way possible and to provide relief in all flood-affected revenue circles like North Lakhimpur, Subansiri, Nowboicha, Bihpuria, rayanpur and Dhakuakha as the government has released funds and subsidiaries.

ba Kumar Doley, Minister of Panchayat and Rural Development, minister Keshab Mahanta, , Utpal Dutta, MLA of North Lakhimpur, Devanda Hazarika, MLA of Bihpuria and Pradan Baruah, MLA of Dhemaji were present in the meeting.

Sonowal also asked the district administration to keep a close watch over the relief items that were being provided to the flood-affected population and to avoid any kind of misutilization of funds and to prevent any kind of fraud and corruption. If any misutilization or corruption was found, the government would take strict action against the officials involved in such activities, he warned.

Two flood-affected families were given cheque of Rs 4 lakh for their loss in the flood. Dulal Gogoi’s familiy of Mojaguri and Makhan Hazarika’s family of Ghilamora of North Lakhimpur received the amount.

Later, the Chief Minister interacted with people from different revenue circles on the flood situation and assured that the government would eventually solve the flood problem in the the State.
