CM to give away Bir Chilaray Award

Bongaigaon, Feb 9: The 507th birth anniversary of Biswa Mahabir Chilaray will be celebrated centrally in Bongaigaon on Friday.

The programme will be organized by office of the Director of Cultural Affairs of Assam in association with Bongaigaon district administration and public of Bongaigaon. District Information and Pubic Relation Officer of Bongaigaon said that Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal would give away the Bir Chilaray Award to Balen Horizon.

 “Along with the Chief Minister, Minister of Cultural Affairs, ba Kumar Doley, MLA Phani Bhusan Choudhury, Ranjit Das and Aswini Ray Sarkar will attend the programme. The programme will start with tribute paying to the martyr by Rajendra rayan Dev, retired Principal of Birjhora Girls’ College. This will be followed by flag hoisting by Deputy Commissioner Biswajit Pegu. The exhibition hall will be iugurated by Tarinikanta Ray, retired Principal of Ratpeeth College. At 2 pm, the Chief Minister will pay floral tribute to Bir Chilaray and then the meeting will start where the Bir Chilaray Award will be given. In this regard, a souvenir will be unveiled,” she said.
