CM to launch 'Saubhagya'

Shillong, April 18:  Chief Minister Conrad K Sangma and Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Power and New & Renewable Energy RK Singh, in the presence of Meghalaya Power Minister James PK Sangma will launch the SAUBHAGYA (Pradhan Mantri Sahaj Bijli Har Ghar Yojana) at U Soso Tham Auditorium, Shillong on April 20, as per a release.

‘Saubhagya’ is a Government of India scheme to ensure electrification of all households in the country, in rural as well as in urban areas. The objective of the scheme is to achieve universal household electrification, creation of last mile connectivity to all households in rural and urban areas and to provide electricity connection to all willing un-electrified households. No upfront fee for availing electricity connection and no charges of fees for poor households are the notable features of this scheme, the release added.
