CM trying to discourage those who are opposing rail project: KHM

From A Reporter

SHILLONG, June 5: The Khun Hynniewtrep tiol Awakening Movement (KHM) Central Executive Committee on Monday has questioned that statement made by Chief Minister Mukul Sangma in which he had asked why only the Khasi Students Union (KSU) is opposing the Railway project in the state.

In this connection, Pyndapborthiaw Saibon president of KHM, CEC said the Chief Minister by making such statement is only trying to lower down the voices of those opposing railway in Meghalaya.

“The Chief Minister does not know what is exactly happening within the state and what he said might be because he was too busy in his travels outside the state and in his own constituency,” the KHM leader said.

The KHM stated that for the information of the Chief Minister, they express their opposition to the Railway project.

Saibon further said the claims made by the government that proper mechanism has been put in place to check influx is only a scam to mislead the people of the state because till date the government has yet to be successful in checking the inflow of non-tribal’s into the state.

He further said Inner Line Permit (ILP) is the only solution to the issue of influx in the state.

“The Chief Minister should first scrap this project until a proper mechanism is implemented to check influx and illegal immigration into the state,” he said.
