CM unveils life-size statue of jajabor in Tinsukia

TINSUKIA, Oct 1: Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday unveiled a life-size statue of legendary singer Dr Bhupen Hazarika at Police point Chariali here in the presence of a jam-packed gathering. Fans of Hazarika arrived at the decorated venue to witness the unveiling of the statue.

Chief Minister Gogoi, who taken ill after attending a party workers meeting here on Tuesday, did not speak to the gathering as he had not recovered fully and left for Guwahati following the programme.

The event was attended by former DONER minister Paban Singh Ghatowar.

Ghatowar in his speech said that music maestro Bhupen Hazarika will always remain alive among the people of Assam. The programme was also attended by parliamentary secretaries RP Singh and Raju Sahu, Digboi MLA Rameswer Dhanowar, Tinsukia deputy commissioner Puru Gupta and SP Mugdha Jyoti Mahanta.

Litterateur and former president of Asam Sahitya Sabha, Dr Lakshmi ndan Bora released a souvenir published on the occasion.
