CM witnesses India–Laos qualifiers play–off match

GUwahati, June 7: Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal witnessed the AFC Asian Cup UAE 2019 qualifiers play–off match between India and Laos of at Indira Gandhi Athletic Stadium at Sarusajai Sports Complex in Guwahati in the evening today.

Sonowal was introduced to the players of both the countries before the beginning of the match by senior sports officials. Sonowal shook hands with the players and referees and exchanged pleasantries with them.

This is the second match between Loas and India, the first being held at Laos on June 2 last in which India emerged winners.

Laos PDR Ambassador to India, Southam Sakonhninhorm, Indian Ambassador to Laos PDR, Ravi Shankar Aisola, Additiol Chief Secretary, Sports & Youth Welfare, RT Jindal, Commissioner & Secretary, Sports & Youth Welfare, Ajay Tewari and other sports officials were present on the occasion, stated in a release.
