CM's effigy burnt by Goriya Moriya activists

From our Correspondent
Bongaigaon, March 2: The All Assam Goriya Moriya Desi Jatiya Parishad (AAGMDJP) burnt effigy of Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Wednesday in Bongaigaon in protest against the alleged betrayal of the Muslim community by the Assam Government. Talking to media persons, Shahid Ali Ahmed, central publicity secretary of AAGMDJP said that though they had been agitating since the past several years for the development of Muslim people, the government had not paid any heed to their demands. “After a long agitation, Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi filly announced in 2015 about formation of Goriya Moriya Development Council. However, no steps have yet been taken to form the council. We have appealed several times but have not got any positive response. This is an example of betrayal and flattery of the Muslim people. Hence we protesting against this,” said Ahmed.
