CM's effigy burnt

A REPORTER
SHILLONG, May 22: In protest against the delay of the State Government’s approval to the Village Administration Bill, 2014, the Khun Hynniewtrep tiol Awakening Movement (KHM) on Friday burnt the effigy of Chief Minister Mukul Sangma.
The effigy was burnt in front of the venue where former CEM KHADC Adelbert Nongrum and Goldy Warjri were staging their ongoing indefinite hunger strike, at Barik.
Pyndapbor Saibon, president of the KHM, who is also on an indefinite sit-in-demonstration said, “The burning of the effigy is to show our protest and condemn the State government’s adamant attitude to pass the bill, pending for the past ten months.”
Meanwhile, the sit-in-demonstration staged by the KHM is also a mark to extend its support and solidarity with A Nongrum, whose hunger strike as on Friday has entered the seventh day.
