CMSS demands solution to problems of primary schools in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT, January 12: Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (CMSS) Golaghat district unit staged a dhar in front of the District Elementary Education Office here protesting against the role of the education department in primary level schools.

About 200 activists of CMSS Golaghat District Committee gheraoed the district elementary education office and shouted various slogans against the Assam Government and education department.

The protest was led by CMSS general secretary Bidyut Saikia. Addressing the gathering, Saikia said, “The primary schools in Golaghat district are in a poor condition. In maximum schools pure drinking water is not provided to students and the proper pupil-teacher ratio is not maintained,” he said. Further he said that there were five education blocks in Golaghat district and there should be a Block Elementary Education Officer in each block. But only one Block Elementary Education Officer was handling all five education blocks. Three posts of Deputy Inspector of Schools were lying vacant and among 10 posts only three Sub-Inspectors of Schools were serving in Golaghat Education Department.

Taking part in the protest programme, KMSS general secretary Probin Das criticized the Tarun Gogoi-led State Government and flayed Education Minister Sarat Borkataky for the role of the education department.

Later a memorandum was submitted to the State Education Minister through the District Magistrate, Golaghat.
