CMSS gheraoes electricity office in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT, July 5: The activists of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (CMSS) Lakhibari Regional Committee gheraoed the Golaghat Subdivisional Electricity Office on Wednesday to demand electrification in villages which are under darkness even today. About 200 activists of the organization gheraoed the electricity office and shouted various slogans against the Assam government and Electricity Department as well as the Narendra Modi-led BJP government.

Taking part in the protest, the general secretary of CMSS, Bidyut Saikia slammed the Narendra Modi-led BJP government. He said that at time when Prime Minister Narendra Modi talked about Digital India, most village areas of Golaghat district were without electrificity. Villages like Da-barahi, Lakhibari, Doyang, Morangi, Ratanpur, Jamuguri, Nogora, Balijan Borchapori, Mohima TE, Dakhinhengera Chumani line and Doigrung were still without electrification. The CMSS demanded the authority concerned to take initiative for providing electrification in the villages where people were still living in darkness. Later, the Assistant Chief Manager of Golaghat Divisional Electricity Board, Pallab Bora assured the protesters to provide electrification as early as possible.
