CMSS opposes move to make Sanskrit mandatory in school

JORHAT, March 3: Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti (CMSS) Jorhat unit burnt the effigy of State Education Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma in protest against the State Government’s steps regarding making Sanskrit subject mandatory in school up to Class VII. The student body burnt the effigy in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Jorhat on Thursday. Activists of CMSS shouted slogans against State Education Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma. They demanded that History and Geography subjects should be made mandatory in school level instead of Sanskrit. CMSS Jorhat unit president Bhairab Bora and secretary Subrat Dutta vehemently criticized this move.
