COAI AND TAIPA organizes workshop in the City

SHILLONG, July 2: The Cellular Operators Association of India (COAI) and Towers and Infrastructure Providers Association (TAIPA) in partnership with the Government of Meghalaya organized a workshop on ‘Mobile Telephony: Digital inclusion and Health Aspects’ in the City on Thursday.

This workshop is part of the collective telecom industry efforts for awareness building and promotion of the current government’s vision of Digital India and Fincial Inclusion.

Delivering the keynote address, Minister IT & Health A.L Hek said that the visions of the former Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi and his advisor Sam Pitorda set the stage for telecom revolution in the country.

“The telecom revolution has brought about great comfort for the people and the demand for mobile connections from the masses has also increased,” Hek said adding that due to the advancement of technology, many applications are also now available in mobile phones which in turn is contributing significantly to digital advancement.

Hek also said, “There is no doubt on the effect of telecom sector on the economy. The ‘Digital India’ initiative is foresure going to be a game-changer for the economy of Meghalaya. Facilitating Digital North-East is the key for the overall success of the ‘Digital India’ initiative. We hope to experience accelerated economic growth in the State of Meghalaya on back of adequate mobile telecom networks that will help people connect with each other, exchange information and take decisions.”
