Coal India facing coal pilferage

MARGHERITA, Nov 12: Coal India Limited, Margherita is facing coal pilferage for  many years. Coal India Limited, Margherita extracts hundred tonnes of coal daily but it faces coal pilferage by local coal thieves. Coal is available at Tikok Colliery, Tirap Colliery, Ledo Colliery, Tipong Colliery and mdang Colliery under Coal India Limited but 1,000 tonnes of coal are illegally stolen daily by school dropouts allegedly hired by coal mafia of Margherita. Many officers of Coal India Limited, Margherita are scared of their lives as few weeks ago NSCN (K) cadres had allegedly threatened them due to which high officials of Tikok Colliery took shelter at a guest house in Margherita with their family members. When contacted, the Margherita Subdivisiol Police Officer was not available for any comments.
