Coal mafia hiring B'deshis in illegal mining: AJYCP

MARGHERITA, May 31: Some people with vested interests were illegally extracting coal without giving royalty to Coal India Limited, Margherita, alleged Asam Jatiyatabadi Yuba Chatra Parishad (AJYCP) Margherita Regiol Committee president and secretary Salil Neog and Kanchan Bora respectively.

They alleged alleged that illegal coal mining was rampant in Margherita, Ledo, Borgolai and Tipong where coal mafia had hired suspected Bangladeshis to work in illegal coal mines. Salil Neog said that coal mafia buy coal from Coal India Limited and mixed it with the stolen coal and transport the coal using fake challan.

Kanchan Bora alleged that at Shiaal Line in Ledo, many illegal coal mines were there and the Margherita administration was not taking any action against these coal mines.

The AJYCP leaders warned that if the illegal coal mining was not stopped then AJYCP would permanently block the NH-38 at Margherita.
