Coal miners strike from June 19

MARGHERITA, June 14: Trade unions of the country have called for three days strike in all coal mines from June 19 to June 21 due to the Central Government’s ‘dictatorial’ policy for which coal mine workers are suffering. Sanjib Baruah, general secretary of Purvottar Khadan Mazdoor Sangh (BMS) North Eastern Coal Fields Coal India Limited Margherita, said that on June 10 at Ranchi, Jharkhand Coal Workers’ United grand convention was held where trade unions such as INTUC, BMS, HMS, AITUC, CITU and AICCTU participated. It was decided that from June 19 to June 21, all coal mine workers of the country would resort to strike against the Centre’s ‘dictatorial’ policy. Sanjib Baruah said, “Our demands are - merger of CMPF into EPF be stopped, continue CMPF pension as it exists, full implementation of NCWA 9 agreement, early settlement of 10th wage negotiations for coal miners, stopping contract systems of labour in perennial ture of jobs till such time the contract system is not stopped, contractor employees be part of equal wage for equal work, stopping ceiling/restriction on payment of OT restore double wages for rest day working and withdrawing the decision of closure of coal mines.”  All the coal workers of NEC Coal India Limited Margherita will take part in the three-day coal mines strike, said Sanjib Baruah.
