Coal smugglers arrested

Joysagar, Feb 20: The Gelakey Police bbed two persons who tried to steal coal from a coal depot belonging to Coal India Limited in ginimora area under Gelekey PS on Monday. The accused persons were identified as Bitupan Saikia of Gelakey and Ramesh Gogoi of zira. Besides, a Bolero pick-up van with regd no.AS-04-BC-0702 was also seized by the police team as the van was full of smuggled coal worth about Rs 8 lakh, sources revealed. A case has been registered in this connection in Gelekey PS under No- 29/18/376/379/420 IPC.
