Coal trucks seized

Margherita, March 27: Illegal coal trade has been going on ubated at Margherita and neighboring State Aruchal Pradesh. Yesterday, Jagun police seized two loaded coal trucks and recovered fake documents and transit permit from them. The trucks were reportedly coming from ‘Aru Coke Coal Bhatta’ situated at Khursang and were bound for Tinsukia. The two trucks bore registration numbers AS 23 AC 4991 and HR 38G 2193. Three persons were also arrested. They were identified as Rajendra Kumar (45), Sunil Thakur (31) and Krish Debth (42). According to a sources, illegal coal trade is rampant at Khursang area which falls in Changlang district of Aruchal Pradesh and a Khursang Police officer’s wife is behind the racket. On an average, 10 trucks of illegal coal are transported from Khursang. There are allegations that police and forest officials take huge commissions from there illegal coal traders.
