Colleagues appeal abductors to release DSO unharmed

SHILLONGH, July 13: Employees of the Directorate of Sports and Youth Affairs office, Meghalaya on Monday appealed the abductors of the District Sports Officer (DSO) AN Sharma of Baghmara in South Garo Hills, to release him “unharmed and unconditiolly”.

In an appeal to the abductors, the department said that it is unfortute that sincere and dedicated officers working to promote youths of South Garo Hills in the field of sports and games are abducted and intimidated.

“In case any individual or group has any grouse, they are advised to go and see the District Sports Complex, who despite constraints has done a wonderful job to create a small sports complex near the District Sports Office at Baghmara,” FM Dopth, Director Sports and Youth Affairs today said.

According to Dopth the sports complex consists of a boxing training hall, basketball court, small hostel to accommodate at least 40 people and a functiol indoor sports hall. It may be mentioned that Sharma was abducted by unidentified miscreants from Kherapara in West Garo Hills district on Friday at about 6.30 p.m.

The abductors whose identity is yet unknown called up Sharma’s wife on Saturday and demanded Rs 50 lakhs for his safe release.
