College girl murdered in gaon by fellow student

GAON (HAIBORGAON), October 27: Sensation prevailed in gaon town on Thursday afternoon following a gruesome murder of a college girl by another college student. The deceased girl’s sister sustained head injury at gaon- Laokhuwa road.

According to the sources, Umarangam Saikia, a student of gaon GNDG Commerce College, on Thursday afternoon rushed to the rented house of Santi Dey, a student of gaon Girls’ College, situated at gaon Laohkuwa Road near Haiborgaon PKB Nursing Home and allegedly killed her younger sister Silpa Dey with a sharp weapon and also attempted to kill Santi Dey in the house. But luckily Santi survived after sustaining serious head injury.

Due to Santi’s presence of mind and also the cooperation of some local people, the alleged murderer was picked up by local police from the spot soon after the deadly incident. Interestingly, injured Santi Dey is the newly-elected general secretary of the college students’ union and along with her two other sisters, was staying in the rented house of Rajat Borua at gaon-Laokhuwa Road for the last couple of years.

Santi is a student of degree third semester while deceased Silpa was a student of degree first semester. According to some classmates of the deceased girl as well as other family members, the boy was the boyfriend of another girl who was the class mate of Santi Dey and two days ago, Santi’s younger sister Silpa Dey fought with that girl over Rs 500. The girl told her boyfriend Umarangam Saikia of Kaliabor, Banipur about this.

On Thursday afternoon, he went to the rented house and allegedly attacked Silpa Dey as well as her elder sister Santi Dey. Soon after the incident, the local police along with higher officials of the district rushed to the spot and picked up the alleged murderer and also brought both the sisters to the nearby PKB Nursing Home where doctors declared Silpa Dey dead.

Meanwhile, the doctor also declared that injured Santi Dey was out of danger and would be normal soon. On the other hand, local Haiborgaon police have started prelimiry investigation and also made arrangement for postmortem of the deceased.  The students of gaon Girls’ College have demanded proper investigation as well as capital punishment of the accused.
