College observes foundation day

Golaghat , July 13: Reliance College Junior in Golaghat observed its 15th foundation day and freshers’ social on Wednesday. The programme started with the hoisting of the flag by Rector Dr. Tulendra Nath Hazarika. After that floral tribute was paid to the founder of the college, Rupak Gogoi. Then the wall magazine of the college titled Skylark was unveiled by senior journalist Rohit Gogoi. Thereafter a meeting was held on the occasion which was presided over by Rector Dr. Tulendra Nath Hazarika. The chief guest in the meeting was PK Baruah, General Manager of Numaligarh Refinery Limited.

In the meeting awards were given to the students who have secured 90 per cent and above in the Higher Secondary (HS) final examination in the Arts, Science and Commerce streams from the college. An award given by Jibokanta Gogoi Memorial Trust to the toppers of the three streams was given to three students - Khyati Saikia from Arts, Barbie Borthakur from Science and Muskan Agarwal from Commerce Stream. Also, awards were given to students for securing highest marks in any subject. One of the students from Reliance College Junior, Syed Ikramul Hussain, who got highest marks in Geography in the State, was given a special award by the college authorities in memory of Rupak Gogoi. The teachers of the Geography Department, Lakhyajit Dworah and Pallavi Malakar were also felicitated.
