College student held for drug trafficking

MANGALDAI, Sept 24: A degree student of Mangaldai Commerce College has been arrested on the charge of drugs trafficking.

Based on source information about drug peddlers, Deputy Superintendent of Police, Amit Hojai along with the staff of Mangaldai Police Station launched an operation in the Kharupetia bus stand near Rajiv Bhavan at Mangaldai on Saturday evening and bbed one Mohammed Ali (20) of village no. 3 nglichar under Shyampur Police Station in Darrang district and recovered 20 bottles of Codeine syrup from his possession.

On further interrogation, he led to recovery of another 110 bottles of Codeine cough syrup (total 130) and 51 Nitrozepam tablets from a house in Mangaldai where the accused was staying on rent. The accused person is a second year B.Com student of Mangaldai Commerce College. He has been booked under NDPS Act.
