North Lakhimpur, Jan 30: The 45th annual college week of Lakhimpur Commerce College Week concluded on Sunday with felicitation of a prominent book seller and taking out of a grand cultural procession.
In the open session of the prize distribution ceremony, prominent book seller Noor Mohammad Gazi of the famed Gazi Book Stall and an octogerian entrepreneur, was felicitated by the college. Chaired by the Principal of the college, Dr. Bhimasen Behera, Gazi was felicitated by the college and the invited guest Jardan Goswami, prominent writer and poet. Felicitating Gazi, writer Jardan Goswami said that his childhood was enriched with his experience of buying books from the book stall in North Lakhimpur during his regular visits to the town from his tive place Gohpur.
Goswami also presented books authored by him to the winners of the literary and cultural competitions of the college week. In his speech, Principal Dr. Behera urged the students to always exploit the college offerings to be their launch pad for future acceleration in their career. The prize distribution ceremony was also attended by professors Dr. Gunin Sarma, Sazzad Hussain, Kuldeep raryan Dutta, Dr Sikhamoni Borgohain and others.
Earlier on Saturday, the college took out a mammoth cultural procession for the first time in its history to mark its 45th Annual College Week. The procession was flagged off by Sudhakar Singh, Superintendent of Police, Lakhimpur. Two former general secretaries of the students’ union of the college, Bijoy Baruah and Gautam Bhuyan were the invited guests of the flagging-off ceremony who also participated in the procession. The cultural procession comprising various ethnic cultures and lives of people, tableaus showcasing various traditiol and contemporary issues like Gurukul education system, free and fair election, digital cashless economy and Kargil War were taken out in the procession which enthralled the public in the main roads of North Lakhimpur. The 45th Annual College Week of Lakhimpur Commerce College was iugurated on January 24 with the hoisting of the flag by Principal Dr Bhimasen Behera and swahid tarpan by Prof. Ashoke Baruah, the academic coorditor of the college.
