Commercial vehicles to be supplied to ONGC by ASTC

Joysagar, June 28: In the latest decision taken by the ONGCL authorities and ASTC authorities, ONGC will take their required commercial vehicles for operation in the coming fiscal year on hire. According to the sources, this decision  has been taken after a high-level meeting between the ONGCL authorities and Assam State Transport Corporation  (ASTC) authorities which was held in Guwahati headquarters of ONGCL recently and as per the decision taken in the meeting, an MOU was also signed between the two organizations and thereafter the process of taking commercial vehicles for ONGCL will begin in Upper Assam. ASTC will supply basically the buses and other vehicles for ONGCL operation and will also supply some trucks and other small luxury cars for the oil company and there will be a deal of many crores per annum which will benefit the public sector government transport corporation which is trying to survive and recover its previous losses.

Besides, hundreds of petty businessmen of Sivasagar district have been supplying commercial vehicles to the ONGCL in the past years and now they also have urged the ONGCL authorities to take some vehicles for hire from the educated unemployed youths and petty businessmen of Sivasagar district.

Apart from this, there has been arising an allegation of a kind of syndicate being run by a strong group backed by political and other powers and this group allegedly tries to interfere in the whole process for which there has been some hindrance in the vehicle-taking process of ONGCL in Sivasagar recently.
