Committee formed for Wangala Fest

Donkamokam, Sept 3: On Saturday, a 55-member reception committee with Hollingson Sangma as convener was formed to hold the 22nd edition of the Wangala Fest which will be held from November 5 to November 7 at Tinglijan under Bokajan subdivision.

Local MLA Dr Numol Momin attended as chief advisor to the programme. “I want this Wangala Fest or the harvesting fest to be the best and a historic one. Through this fest I also want the A’chik (Garo) community of Karbi Anglong to be united for a cause,” said the MLA.

He also warned the organizers that politics should not come in the way of organizing the event as it was purely a social event held to uphold the rich heritage of the community.

Every year, the Karbi Anglong A’chik(Garo) Cultural Society (KAACS) organizes the community fest.

Wangala is the harvesting fest of the Garos where people thank the Misi Saljong for a good harvest.

Presided over by KAACS president, Niharson Sangma the meeting was also attended by GSU K/Anglong Zone president Prindo Sangma, UABK former secretary Ladipson Sangma, SGBs teachers and parents.
