Committee formed to combat drug, liquor mece

FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

SILCHAR, July 18: Of late, Rongpur area has become a convergence point of drug addiction, consumption of liquor and gambling. To stop the mece from spreading its sway on the youths, a committee has been formed under the aegis of some important residents of Rongpur area of this town. The increase in the number of anti-social elements and activities has made life miserable for the residents of the area. As a result of which, the formation of a committee was deemed fit. The formation of the committee owes much to Uttam Chanda, in-charge, Rongpur patrol post. The committee will keep surveillance upon these anti-social activities and try to curb them. The idea of forming the committee took shape in a meeting held on July 8 at Rongpur. In that meeting, a series of discussions on eradicating these social evils were held. The decision of forming a new committee was supported by all and has been brought to the notice of the Additiol Superintendent of Police, Cachar. Zamir Uddin Barbhuiya and Amulya Chandra Das have informed this on behalf of the committee.
