FROM OUR CORRESPONDENT

ITAGAR, Sept 7: The Pasighat-Bomjir NH-52 Bachao Committee (PBNH-52BC) submitted a memorandum to Lok Sabha member Ninong Ering on Friday at Mebo seeking his intervention and help in cancelling the central government’s notification to hand over NH-52 construction work to PWD. The committee has been fighting against the transfer of tiol Highway-52 work to state PWD from Border Roads Organization (BRO). People of Mebo and Dambuk have categorically opposed the government’s decision of the work transfer saying that it would go to any extent to stop the transfer of work. The NH52 is not only lifeline of the people of Mebo and Dambuk but is also important from strategic point of view for the country, said chairman PBNH-52BC, Todol Pertin. Citing the dilapidated condition of the Lakhimpur-Banderdewa road of neighboring Assam that was under PWD, Pertin said the committee doesn’t want such condition of road in their area. Appreciating BRO’s quality work, the committee said the disconnected portion of NH-52 at Siku Bridge is being restored timely by BRO with requisite infrastructures and technical knowhow. According to the committee, Ering assured them to flag the issues raised by them to the concerned ministry.
