Common, online exam for multiple universities launched

Kolkata, March 3: Students seeking admission to engineering, medical and dental courses at the undergraduate level can now opt for a single, online entrance examition for getting admitted into select colleges in India, it was announced here on Tuesday. The Uni-GAUGE EMeD examition launched by the Education Rating and Assessment Foundation, a non-profit body, provides a single pan-India, computer-aided assessment platform for multiple universities, which are the partnering varsities of the organisation. The first exam for undergraduate seats is scheduled on April 26 and will be held in at least 60 cities simultaneously. The test for postgraduate medical and dental seats was conducted on February 14. According to B.N. Subramanya, CEO of the foundation, students clearing the exam will be eligible for B.Tech, B.E, M.B.B.S and B.D.S courses in various private and deemed institutions such as M. S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences, Reva University, Kolar’s Sri Devraj Urs University and Faridabad’s Mav Rach University. More universities are slated to join the platform shortly and the organisers hope to enroll around 30,000 students. The syllabus for the exam is derived from common areas in state boards, CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education) and ISCE (Indian School Certificate Examitions) curriculum.  (IANS)
