SHILLONG, Feb 14: The Divisiol Forest Officer (Wildlife), Hesiakaru Lato informed that after the announcement of ‘Law Kyntang ka Seiñriaj Tuber’ (Sacred grove) as a ‘Community Reserve’, the Forest department has identified the forest of being rich in vegetation, including herbs and wildlife. Heisakrau made the revelation during the iuguration of the Community hall (Dorbar) at Seiñraij Tuber. She said as per the Botanical Survey of India it was found that inside the forest there are around 267 variety of vegetation, which included medicil herbs etc.   The forest also boasts around 65 different orchids besides having plantation which is rarely seen in other forest areas. More than 110 bird species are residents of the forest beside other wildlife. Heisakaru further said that scientist of the Botanical Survey of India had revealed that the forest is a paradise for vegetation because there is a vast number of rare plants in the forest. According to Heisakaru, the department of Wildlife will soon prepare a list of all the plantation and wildlife prevalent in the forest.
