Community-level meeting on NRC draft publication held

KALAIGAON, Nov 8: A community level meeting on NRC draft publication was held on Wednesday at the premise of Gaonburha Bhavan in Kalaigaon Revenue Circle Office. Biraj Barua, Circle Officer of Kalaigaon, organized the crucial meeting to discuss about the NRC update process. Several organizations of Kalaigaon like AASU, AAMSU, ABMSU, AABYSF, AJYCP and Bhojpuri Students’ Union along with senior citizens were invited in this meeting. All the gaon burhas of Kalaigaon along with head officials from all departments of Kalaigaon also attended the meeting. Dilip Kr. Das, Deputy Commissioner of Udalguri, DN Hazarika, SDO(C) of Bhergaon subdivision, ADC Anupam Chaudhury and Additiol SP Juvaraj took part in this meeting.

Addressing the meeting, DC Dilip Kr. Das said, “The entire NRC update process is being carried out in the most transparent manner under close monitoring of the Supreme Court of India. Only Indian citizens will be included in the NRC update.” He also requested the people not to pay heed to any rumours or misinformation. He also added that genuine Indian citizens would be included in the NRC without fail.

Meanwhile, Additiol SP Juvaraj appealed to the people of all communities to maintain a peaceful environment ahead of draft NRC publication. Moreover, Circle Officer Biraj Barua requested all gaon burhas to hold awareness meetings on NRC update process in their own villages. After that the Deputy Commissioner talked with NRC officials of Kalaigaon to ensure quality work in the NRC update process.
