Community marriage of 1,175 couples solemnized

LAKHIMPUR, April 19: Like last year, a community marriage programme of 1,175 couples was held on Thursday at Tyagkhsetra of North Lakhimpur town this year too. The marriage was organized by the Community Marriage Organizing Committee of Lakhimpur in association with Sewayan of New Delhi. On this occasion, a public meeting was organized in the Tyagkhsetra campus. It began with the lighting of ceremonial lamp by Naba Kumar Doley, State Panchayat and Rural Development and Cultural Affairs Minister, who participated in the programme as the chief guest. He extended warm greetings to the newly-married couples.

Chairperson of Sewayan, Satya Prakash Mangalam, extended blessings to the couples. Bibhag Sangha Salak of RSS, Naba Dutta, Principal of Lakhimpur DIET, Gobin Chandra Borah, and member of Sewayan Pavan Sarmah, Xatradhikar Bhabadev Goswami were present as the guests of honour. The organizing committee said that the couples tied the knot following their respective religious customs.
