Commuters rue deplorable condition of roads

LAKHMIPUR, August 5: The stretch of the Bervanga and Jangara roads at Tarrani in North Lakhimpur are in deplorable condition, much to the apathy of the authorities concerned.

Local residents of the area said that the stretch witnessed many accidents, but these mishaps had failed wake up the authorities. He said the stretch was teeming with potholes of various sizes.

They said that the condition of the roads was deteriorated due to frequent plying of commercial trucks and dumpers. These trucks and dumpers use the two roads for carrying sands and stones from the Boginodi sand mahals. The residents of Tarrani, Rajgarh and Valaki gaon of Boginodi area have decided to block these roads unless both the roads are completely repaired by the authorities concerned.

Around 40 to 50 trucks and dumpers ply on these two roads round the clock and as a result these two roads have completely damaged causing problems for the locals. When contacted a forest official said, “The roads will be repaired very soon. We are planning an estimate of these two roads and very soon with the help Public Work Department (PWD).”
