Sivsagar, Dibrugarh, February 8: The Khyatigrasta Suraksha Samiti Joutha Mancha has demanded a road in the Upper Assam area from Kanubari in Sivasagar district to the Assam–Aruchal border. In the effort to do so, 1500 bighas of land from the nearby villages were requisitioned by the State Government. As the villagers who have been living in the area for a long time have not been paid the proper compensation by the district administration, the CPI–ML, the KMSS and several student bodies have started series of protests against the government. However, the villagers are yet to receive the compensation.
