Complaint against 3 MPs for insulting tiol flag in Pakistan

Bhubaneswar, Aug 18:  A complaint was filed on Thursday with the Odisha police against three Members of Parliament (MPs) for insulting the tiol flag while they took part this week in the Saarc Young Parliamentarians Conference in Pakistan. Human rights activist Subash Mohapatra filed the complaint against Biju Jata Dal (BJD) MP Kalikesh rayan Singhdeo, Bharatiya Jata Party (BJP) MP Devji Bhai Patel and Alok Tiwari of Samajwadi Party for insulting the tiol flag. The complaint said the Indian tricolour was seen hoisted upside down at the first Saarc Young Parliamentarians Conference in Islamabad on Tuesday. The flag was hoisted with the green strip at the top and saffron at the bottom. “While the tiol flag was shown upside down, Kalikesh rayan Singhdeo remained silent and spoke on the occasion,” said Mohapatra. The BJD MP further insulted the flag by posting his photograph with wrongly hoisted tiol flag on social media, the complaint said. Kalikesh on Thursday clarified that they raised the issue and the organisers put up the tiol flag correctly. “This was raised and promptly corrected by the hosts as is evident in the other pictures,” tweeted Singhdeo.
