Complaint against fair price shop

SHILLONG, June 28: Members of the Para Legal Volunteer (PLV) has appraised the Deputy Commissioner East Khasi Hills (EKH) on the alleged distribution of ration at exorbitant rates by fair price shops at Mawsiangei village under Sohra Block.
Speaking to The Sentinel, K Kurbah, PLV member EKH said, “In reality the rice is priced at Rs. 3 per Kg, however, in some shops they charge Rs.5-10 per Kg which is highly illegal and we condemn such actions, especially in East Khasi Hills.”
In this connection, the PLV member has demanded for a CBI inquiry into the matter and to punish those people involved.
He further urged those people encountering similar problems to approach the PVL so that they can take cognizance of the matter.
Meanwhile, a resident of Mawsiangei village affected by the exorbitant rates Dram Khongphai said, “I was charged Rs. 10.”
