Concern over deplorable condition of NH-6

Silchar, Oct 21: The condition of tiol Highway 6 from Katigorah Barak Bridge to Malidahar is so pathetic and deplorable that it is even unfit for cattle to pass. Katigorah Development Committee has been raising this issue from the very beginning but it seems that their appeals fallen deaf ears. bendu Shekhar th, president of the committee in a press release stated that calling this road as ‘tiol Highway’ will be an insult to the word itself.

The road has been regarded as the lifeline for the residents of the area as well for others who use it.  More than 4000 cars, large and small along with other vehicles pass through this road daily. In addition, school going children, office employees and commuters use this road.

It is high time that political leaders and authorities concerned take appropriate and prompt action in this regard, the release said.  bendu Shekar th visited the place and informed PWD Minister Parimal Suklabaidya about the condition of the road.  The Minister has revealed that tender has been prepared and that repair work will soon start.
