Concern over frequent incidents of theft at OIL campus

STAFF CORRESPONDENT

DIBRUGARH, Oct 12: The Oil Township of Duliajan for the last two-three months has been witnessing a series of unlawful activities in and around the quarters of the officials for which no earnest legal action has been taken till date, to apprehend the miscreants who are culpable for carrying out nefarious activities at the residences of the oil officials.

Repeated incidents of theft and burglary has put a big question mark on the security concerns of the Oil Officials and their families who are living in constant fear of being bothered by untoward nuisance as the quarters of drivers and housemaids in the Oil residential areas, has now turned into a den of  morally wrong persons.  The indifference of the police department leaving a few sincere officers to put a check on these alarming incidents has led to another recent incident of theft at the residence of PRO, OIL, Tridip Hazarika, whose house a gang of burglars tried to enter in the house by breaking door and security fencing but due to hue and cry, the burglars fled away.

Sources said Hazarika was in Kolkata with his family, at the time of the incident as the burglars broke into his house. Shockingly, one of the gang of burglars who was under the influence of alcohol, in the morning was found inside the house by the security officials, as he could not move out with the rest.  The arrest of the burglar brings to the front how far the money spend on security magement has unbalanced the entire safety measures needed to be adopted for safekeeping of the officials and their families.   The gamut of unrestrained lawful passage of housebreakers and intruders in the Oil township residences shows how insensitively the wellbeing of the people are being taken for granted by the police administration and Oil security division.
