Concern over illegal sale of stamp paper at high rate

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial), April 6: People of Golaghat district have expressed dissatisfaction over the alleged illegal selling of stamp papers at a high rate by a section of stamp vendors in Golaghat court area.

People alleged that a section of dishonest stamp vendors were selling stamp papers at a higher rate. They have been taking advantage of the ignorance of villagers who come from various villages. The vendors have been selling Rs. 10 stamp papers for Rs. 20, Rs. 20 stamp paper for Rs. 30 and Rs. 50 for Rs. 60, which is complete illegal. Besides, the department concerned issued more than 39 vendor licenses to various persons who do not have any shop near Golaghat court area.

In this regard, people as well as advocates of the Bar Association of Golaghat complained to the Deputy Commissioner of Golaghat but allegedly no initiative was taken to stop this.
