Concern over increasing number of depression cases

mrup, April 9: Along with the rest of the world, the harani Block PHC in collaboration with World Health Day celebration committee,  observed World Health Day 2017 with the theme ‘Depression, Let’s Talk’ at harani Block PHC recently.

The day-long programme started with the hoisting of flag by Dr Bishwajit Borah, SDM& MO, harani Block PHC  which was followed by the iuguration of a medicil plants garden by Monimanik Gogoi, noted social activist.  After that, the iuguration of exhibition and a health camp was done by Dr reswar Borah, Deputy Superintendent, harani CHC and Victoria Tamuli Phukan respectively. To mark the occasion, a grand awareness procession was also organized and Dr Bishwajit Baruah flagged off the same.

The open session held on the occasion was presided over by Monimanik Gogoi and iugurated by Dr. Dhirendra th Bangsai, former Joint Director, Health Services, Dibrugarh. Dr. Hiranya Goswami, Head of the Department of Psychiatry, AMCH, graced the occasion as the appointed speaker. In his speech he spoke about the significance of World Health Day and expressed his concern over the increasing rate of depression cases all over the world. Dr Goswami explained the various factors and causes of depression along with its prevention, care and treatment.

Besides, some plays related to the occasion were staged to signify the occasion. A souvenir harani Swasthya Bartta edited by Mintu Sonowal, Amiya Kr Borah and Geeta Rashmi Konwar was also released. The day-long programme came to an end with a grand cultural programme.
