Concern over lack of power supply

SHILLONG, Aug 8: The Khasi Student Union (KSU) Ranikor Circle on Monday apprised the Director, CEO and Executive Engineer department of Distribution, Meghalaya Energy Corporation Limited (MeECL) on the uvailability of power at Ranikor for the past 6 months due to the non-functioning of the electrical transformer. The KSU has also submitted a memorandum at the MeECL office in his regard. KSU’s Ranikor Circle president Marconi Thongni, informed that in their meeting with officials from the MeECL it is learnt that the corporation is running at a loss since many due to power theft in the area. The MeECL, however, has assured the Union that a new transformer will be installed at the earliest at Rainikor.
