Concern over lack of sub-treasury office at Katigorah

  From A Correspondent

Silchar, Oct 15: It was announced some 10 months ago by the district administration that Katigorah circle would be turned into Katigorah sub-division. However, till date nothing has been done in this regard. bendu Shekhar th, president, Katigorah Development Committee along with other members has stated this at a press release recently and said that the administration has failed to do anything in this regard. There are no administrative offices set up at Katigorah sub-divisions. Sub-treasury office has not been established even after the Government had promised to do so. Dr Himanta Biswas Sarma, Minister of Health and Education, in the last budget session promised at the Vidhan Sabha to set up a Sub-treasury office, but no move has been taken in this regard.

In addition to this, the condition of NH 44 (Katigorah to Siddeshwar) is in a pathetic and deplorable condition. Drawing a metaphor, the members of the Committee have stated that even cows and buffaloes will not be able to use such roads. The Committee members have also requested Parimal Suklabaidya, Minister, PWD, Excise and Fisheries, Government of Assam, to look into the matter of establishing a Sub-treasury office. The Minister has assured them of a prompt action in this regard.
