Concern over massive traffic congestion in Sivasagar

SIVASAGAR, Nov 2: Traffic jams, dilapidated road conditions, improper draige system and occupied footpaths are the major problems besetting Sivasagar town. There has been no improvement in the traffic condition despite several written petitions has been submitted to Sivasagar district administration in the last two years, alleged Ujani Assam Muslim Kalyan Parishad.

In a press statement, working president of Ujani Assam Muslim Kalyan Parishad, Sivasagar Town Committee, Sorifuddin Ahmed said, “Illegal settting up of stands of Traveller, Magic, etc. Infront of the entrance road of Sivasagar Railway Station has not only created jams but also compelled the commuters to face unexpected problems. The illegally established vehicle stands at BG Road, Muktith Chariali, ASTC tiniali, Sankar Mandir Road Chariali, Dolmukh Chariali, Babupatty, Hem Chandra Baruah Road tiniali, etc. were also creating numerous problems for traffic as drivers of the vehicles usually parked their vehicles on the road, creating routine traffic jams thatb often lead to road accidents.”

Expressing concern over the situation, the organization demanded that the administration should remove the illegally established vehicle stands to facilitate passengers and commuters.
