Concern over rising HIV cases in Golaghat

GOLAGHAT, May 13: Various organisation like AASU, AATTSA, CMSS of Golaghat district committee has reacted to the increasing rate of HIV infection in Golaghat while Golaghat Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital’s ICTC counselor revealed HIV related informations.

Talking to the media, the general secretary of Chatra Mukti Sangram Samiti said that after the publicity about increasing of HIV infection in Golaghat there is a fear among the people of Golaghat district.

The Golaghat AASU general secretary Abhibartan Goswami said that it is important to carry out awareness rally and camp on HIV prevention but the concern authority has not taken any action. He alleged that health department of Assam is in deep sleep. The Golaghat Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital’s ICTC counselor Dip Jyoti Das revealed that over 400 persons were HIV positive infected of which 85 were suffering from AIDS and among them 30 have already died. Besides this 20 babies were also infected and of which 6 babies had died. Further the ICTC counselor said that HIV infected persons are found in every village of Golaghat district.
