From a Correspondent

GOLAGHAT (Dhekial) October 18:  The people of Golaghat as well as the assistant general secretary of All Assam Students’ Union (AASU), Monuwar Hussain expressed serious concern over the high-level meeting held between Assam Chief Minister Sarbanda Sonowal and galand Chief Minister TR Zeliang at the Kohora Convention Centre, Kaziranga tiol Park.

The people alleged that steps for permanent solution to the Assam-galand border problem were not mentioned in the discussion. In this regard the assistant general secretary of AASU, Manuwar Hussain said, “Exchange in the fields of culture and sports will not solve the Assam-galand border problem. Both governments will have to approach the Supreme Court for resolving the border problems. In 1988, former Chief Minister Prafulla Kumar Mahanta filed a case in this regard which is pending till date. Without fil judgment from the Supreme Court, no development can be expected in the DAB areas.”
