Condolence meet held

SHILLONG, Oct 12: The Shillong Press Club today condoled the untimely demise of Kenny Warjri, video jourlist of Peitngor Cable News on Sunday October 11, 2015 in a tragic road mishap at Paikan in Assam while en-route to cover the GHADC elections.

In an emergent meeting held at Shillong Press Club on Monday, grieving members of SPC paid rich tributes to the memory of the young jourlist and shared their poignt thoughts on his amiable and humble ture, which had endeared him to all.

The jourlist fraternity of Shillong took note of the fact that Warjri, who tirelessly served the people through his jourlistic efforts died while in duty.

Fellow jourlists recalled that he had been a dedicated media person, whose life came to a tragic end at the peak of his career.

Warjri’s sudden and untimely demise has caused a perennial vacuum in the relatively small media family of Shillong in particular and Meghalaya as a whole, the press fraternity felt.

The members of the media fraternity stood in silence as a mark of respect to their dear departed and conveyed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

“SPC also prays that Kenny rests in everlasting peace while beseeching the Almighty to grant his wife, parents, siblings and all his loved ones solace at this their most bereaving moment,” the Shillong Press Club said in a statement today.

Warjri (29) joined the press fraternity as video jourlist in 2002.

His body was brought to Shillong today morning from Assam.

Walton Lyttan a photographer with the Guwahati based, UB Photo, sustained serious injuries in the accident and has been admitted to the GNRC hospital, Guwahati. His condition is reportedly stable.

Warjri will be laid to rest at Lawmali cemetery tomorrow at 2 pm.
