Condolence meeting for Giasuddin Ahmed

BILASIPARA, Jan 17: Former Deputy Speaker of Assam Assembly Giasuddin Ahmed expired on Monday at his residence in Dhubri due to heart attack. He was 88. He was cremated at Barkanda on Tuesday in presence of 10,000 bereaved people. In this connection a condolence meeting was held on Tuesday at the premises of Bilasipara Subdivisiol Public Library with Gopal Das in the chair. Dayal Paul, district secretary, CPI, Dhubri, former MLA Yousuf Ali Ahmed, Kalyan Chakraborty, secretary, Bilasipara Senior Citizens’ Forum, Congress leader Manirul Choudhury, Abdul Karim Khan, noted artiste of Goalparia folk song, and Sahjahan Ali, noted social worker were present. The meeting condoled the death of Giasuddin Ahmed and observing one-minute silence, prayed for the eterl peace of the  departed soul and extended condolences to the bereaved family members.
