Condolence meeting held

SIVASAGAR, Oct 9: The Sibsagar tya Samaj (SNS) lost a very respected and esteemed member, Prashanta Pratim Sharma on October 4. He was a prominent lawyer of Sibsagar Bar Association, a noted cine and amateur theatre persolity. A public condolence meeting, under the aegis of Sibsagar tya Samaj (SNS), was held at the Sibsagar tya Mandir with Dipali Chaliha, president of SNS, in the chair, which was attended by a large number of member of SNS, lawyers and also the well-wishers of Sharma.
At the beginning of the meeting, one-minute silence was observed to pray for the peace of the departed soul. Saurav Chaliha, prominent social worker of Sivasagar, in his opening remarks said that in the demise of Sharma, Sivasagar had lost a champion in the cultural field and an active worker for social causes. He recounted the long and illustrious social and cultural activities of Prashanta Pratim Sharma (Ratan) and also his persol relationship with him.
Ajit Borpuzari, senior advocate and president of Sibsagar Bar Association, who had been a witness to Sharma’s judicial career, spoke with fond memories. Lakhikanta Mahanta, Xatradhikar of Ujanial Xatra and AASU leader Pradip Borgohain also mourned the death of Sharma and recollected his contributions to Sibsagar tya Samaj and the social field. Meghali Hazarika Kakoti and Boby Duwarah recited poems in memory of Prashanta Pratim Sharma. After the meeting, earthen lamps were lit in front of the Sibsagar tya Mandir as a mark of respect and tribute to Prashanta Pratim Sharma. They later met and conveyed their condolences to the bereaved family.
