Mausumi Baruah, ADC of Lakhmpur, Manjit Borkakoty, Lakhimpur’s Circle Officer, Sanjib Baruah, DIPR Lakhimpur’s Head, Kashap Bhuyan of Senior Citizen Association, Anirudha Roy and Banu Machahary, Assistant Commissioner of Lakhimpur district were also present during the programme. “We were in an urgent requirement of a conference hall from a very long period of time, as meetings were held almost daily in the circle office. We are very thankful that our MLA Utpal Dutta helped us build the conference hall in the office premises to solve the problem,” Manjit Borkakoty, Circle Officer said. “An amount of Rs 1 lakh was sanctioned from the MLA fund to build this conference hall as per request of the Circle Office. Although the amount was not much to build the conference hall, it has provided necessary motivation to the public servants to work better and keep up the good work,” he added. “Lakhimpur Circle Office was built during the British rule and it is our duty to preserve this building for its heritage. Since the office had no space left to build the conference hall so the veranda was renovated to build this hall. Later an air conditioner will be installed,” MLA Utpal Dutta said.
